We all know that the major search engines keep their search algorithms very close to their hearts. To say they are closely guarded secrets would be putting it mildly to say the very least. One of the stated reasons for not publishing more details about how the different elements of a website/page are ranked is to prevent the misuse of the information by spammers (those of us that have been online for many years will probably remember the fun and games we had with sites that ‘overused’ the meta information).
Fortunately for those with websites, there is some respite in the form of a report from SEOmoz, a SEO consultancy and website who asked a number of SEO specialists to have a go at sorting out the myriad of different factors to see if they could come up with a top 10. I’ve listed them below and if you would you like to see the original report, you can find it at: seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors
I plan to give you more detail about each of these over the coming weeks, so stay tuned and perhaps this might be the time subscribe to the blog by using the subscribe box at the bottom?
What this means in plain English is that you need to include your search keyword terms that are specific to a particular page IN THAT PAGE’s TITLE TAG. Fortunately for those people who use Internet Mentor, we provide you with the means to edit your title tags for every single page on your website.
This title tag (usually called a “meta title” in the code of a website) is the text that appears right at the very top of your screen when you are looking at a web page- for instance the title of this page reads “Web design by Internet Mentor blog – top 10 SEO factors” .
